Find our if you are eligible for direct to residency application.

Pathways to Oral Health and Dental Healthcare in New Zealand - Starting on 29 September 2023

If you’ve been working in New Zealand for two years in certain types of jobs, you can apply to live there permanently. Here are the key points:

Three Main Visa Paths:

1. Green List Work to Residence Visa: This is for people working in jobs that are considered very important by New Zealand.

2. Care Workforce Work to Residence Visa: This is for people working in jobs where they take care of others, like healthcare workers.

3. Transport Sector Work to Residence Visa: This is for people working in transportation, like truck drivers or bus drivers.

You need to meet some basic requirements, like being healthy, having good character, speaking English well, and being under a certain age.

Who Can Apply

Anyone with a work visa or a special visitor visa that allows them to work in New Zealand can use their work experience to apply for these residence visas.

New Priority Processing Order

From 29 September, there’s a new system for deciding the order in which applications are processed. Some applications will be looked at first because they’re considered more important. Here’s how they decide:

1. Tier 1 Green List Jobs: If your job is on the Tier 1 Green List, your application gets processed first.

2. High Earners: If you make three times the median wage, your application is also prioritized.

3. Highly Qualified Skilled Migrants: If you’re a skilled migrant with 6 points but without work experience, your application will be processed before others.

Why Some Applications Take Longer

Applications for residence visas take more time to process because they need more checks and information from applicants.
